Dr. Joanne Ray has a B.A. in Journalism/English from Eastern New
Mexico University (Portales, NM 1973), a B.S. in Microbiology from New
Mexico State University (Las Cruces, NM 1987). She attended the  
College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in Pomona, CA where
she received the degree of D. O.. in 1993. Dr. Ray completed her
residency in Pediatrics at the University of New Mexico University
Hospital in Albuquerque, NM from 1993 to 1996.

Following graduation from residency Dr. Ray opened a solo practice in
Carlsbad, NM.  While there she also served as chief of staff for the
hospital.  In 2001 Dr. Ray moved to Las Cruces to be closer to her
children and granddaughters, where she has been practicing since.  
Dr. Ray is licensed by the New Mexico Board of Osteopathic Medicine
and Surgery. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics,
and a member New Mexico Pediatric Society. Also, Dr. Ray has just
been re-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.      


Dr. Cynthia Settles has a B.S. in Biochemistry from New Mexico State
University (Las Cruces, NM 1997).  She then attended University of New
Mexico School of Medicine  where she received the degree of M. D. in
2001.  Dr. Settles then moved to Austin to complete a pediatric
residency at the Children's Hospital of Austin (2001-2004), where she
served as the Chief Resident.  

Following graduation from residency, Dr. Settles served as a hospitalist
and faculty for the Austin Medical Education Program where she
coordinated care for the Children's Hospital and teaching of residents.  
She and her husband decided to come home  to New Mexico and joined
Dr. Ray in September 2005.
Dr. Settles is licensed by the New Mexico Board of Medical Examiners.  
She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.  She retains her
Texas State license.  She is certified in Neonatal Resuscitation and
Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
